The San Diego Symphony is looking for two actors to take part in a short educational program, tracing the history and inspirations that led Czech composer Antonín Leopold Dvořák to create his Symphony No. 9. Actors and dialogue are interwoven with live music and visuals to create a truly spectacular show!

Ever wondered what inspired the creation of a great work of art? Journey into the heart of the music with Beyond the Score®. With live actors, visual illustrations, and musical examples, this multimedia experience reveals the illuminating stories found "inside" the score. After intermission, concertgoers return with newly discovered knowledge to hear a performance of the work played in its entirety.

CHARACTERS

Antonin Dvořák

Male/Caucasian/Age range 40-60/Czech dialect preferred.  Plays the role of Czech composer Antonín Leopold Dvořák.  The setting is when Dvořák was approximately 52-53 years old, prior to writing his New World Symphony. 

 

Multi-role Actor

Male/Caucasian/Age Range 27-40: Performs multiple roles. A director of a school, a pupil and an assistant, Dvořák’s younger son.
